Description:
Aviation Admissions Assistants oversee a group of incoming students applying for flight privileges and act as a peer-mentor, advocate, and friend to these students with a goal of the students being accepted to SUU, completing the Flight Privileges application, and beginning flight training. Regular communication, and outreach between the Aviation Admissions Assistants and their assigned students take place throughout the summer, fall and spring. Aviation Admissions Assistants call, email, text and have in-person meetings with students regularly to remind them of deadlines, answer questions, advise students of Aviation program requirements as well as guide students to resources related to GI Bill benefits, FAA medical certificates, non-citizen FAA requirements and more. Aviation Admissions Assistants work with their assigned students for up to two years before the student begins taking classes at SUU.
Responsibilities:
- The Aviation Admissions Assistants mission is to foster an authentic connection with every Aviation applicant to ensure successful admission to SUU and completion of their flight privileges application.
- Regular communication and outreach between the Aviation Admissions Assistants and their assigned students take place throughout the summer, fall and spring.
- Communicate with incoming applicants via in-bound and out-bound phone calls, emails, texts, and in-person conversations with walk-ins.
- Aviation Admissions Assistants assist in planning and carrying out New Flight Student and New AMT Student Orientation each semester.
- Participate in calling campaigns and registration efforts.
- Keep records of every student interaction or attempted interaction.
- Aviation Admissions Assistants work 30 - 35 hours per week over the summer and 15-20 hours per week during the school year.
- Assist in recording and scoring Flight Privileges Application submissions.
- Aviation Admissions Assistants are subject matter experts on the Flight Privileges Application and the flight training experience at SUU.
Qualifications:
- Be in good standing with the university, both in conduct and academically.
- Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, positive demeanor, even in difficult or demanding situations.
- Be currently in flight training at SUU.
- Must be mature, professional, friendly, kind and welcoming of every student and create a sense of belonging for all.
- Must be willing to regularly make outbound phone calls and answer in-bound phone calls.
- No previous campus experience is required.
